So this last Saturday we had our annual Apple Cider Day. Dad earlier in the week had gone east to get a trailer and a truck load of apples. I believe the grand total was 2,700 lbs of apples. Then the Vances, the Farrars, the Tennels, the Greens, and of course us got together at the Farrar's house and made apple cider. Now this is an all day event, We clean them (we had a 3 bath system going), then we put them through the apple press, then we put the cider into containers and coolers and what have you. I'm not sure what the grand gallon amount of Juice we made. In the middle of it we stopped and had a potluck lunch and then during that time the Elders from the Alderwood 1st ward came to help the Farrar's move some beams, and then they ended up helping.
This is such a fun family tradition that I've remembered ever since I was a baby, (in fact there is a picture of of me as a baby in the truck bed full of apples looking at the apple I was holding) so I'm glad that we always have fresh, delicious apple cider around.
